Effective Date: May 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy governs the use of the mobile application Ping (“the Application”), a production-grade SMS and messaging application developed for Android devices. Ping is designed to provide a secure, fast, and vibrant messaging experience while respecting your absolute right to data privacy.

1. Information Collection and Use

Ping operates primarily as a local utility on your device. To provide core messaging functionalities, the Application requires specific native Android permissions.

Core Permissions & Data Handling:

  • SMS Permissions (RECEIVE_SMS, READ_SMS, SEND_SMS): The Application requires access to your device’s Telephony subsystem to send, receive, display, and process your standard network SMS text messages. This data is processed in real-time to manage your conversation threads.
  • Contacts Permission (READ_CONTACTS): Ping uses background synchronization to map your system contacts to your inbox conversations, displaying accurate names and custom contact avatars.
  • Notification Permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to deliver high-priority, rich message notification bubbles directly to your system drawer, allowing you to reply instantly.

Important Note on Data Privacy: Your text messages, contact logs, and communication data are your business. Ping processes and stores this data locally on your device’s secure internal storage. We do not host external databases to collect, read, or track the contents of your messages.

2. Data Persistence and Security

Ping is built with local-first security in mind to guarantee the privacy of your information:

  • Local Database Storage: All message histories, configuration states, contact mappings, and blocked/muted number preferences are cached locally using an encrypted or secure Android Room database.
  • No Server-Side Tracking: Your message contents are routed exclusively through your mobile network carrier’s infrastructure—just like native system texting. Ping does not upload your personal data to remote servers.
  • User Control: Toggling privacy settings, clearing message history, or unblocking numbers immediately alters or destroys the respective records directly within your local device storage.

3. Third-Party Services

To deliver core platform features, the Application relies on official Android system frameworks:

  • Google Play Services: Used to facilitate baseline application deployment, licensing, and standardized notification delivery hooks.
  • Mobile Network Operators: Standard SMS transmissions rely entirely on your cellular carrier network, which is subject to your carrier’s own independent privacy frameworks.

4. Children’s Privacy

Ping does not deliberately target, collect, or solicit information from anyone under the age of 13. Because all messaging data remains strictly on your local device, we do not store or manage personal data belonging to children on any remote infrastructure.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in application architecture or evolving regulatory frameworks. Any adjustments will be made transparently by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this document.
